The specially designed curved star-shape elastic adhesive on the ostomy wafer is made to fit outward body areas. What is an outward body area? An outward body area is when, because of surgeries or just living with a stoma, the area around the stoma is not perfectly flat. Hernias, bulges, scar tissue, any of these can cause your skin under or around the stoma to bulge outward. These kind of stomas are very common but traditional flat ostomy wafers don't work well with them. The Sunsura Mio Flip ostomy barrier works like a hand grabbing a ball and hugs the outward area which greatly increases the amount of contact between the skin and the adhesive barrier. The adhesive is elastic, it moves with your body, so it follows your movements without pulling against the skin/ostomy wafer connection.
